MS-61 Report Guide

Purpose:

This guide helps you gather the data needed for the MS-61 Annual Report, which is submitted to the State of New Hampshire as part of your property tax reporting requirements. It outlines how to generate the necessary reports from your FundWorks system to determine Opening Balances, Debits & Credits, and Ending Balances. Sample MS-61 Template is available to download.

πŸ”Ή Step 1: Generate Opening Balances

Opening balances represent outstanding receivables and unapplied credits carried over from the previous fiscal year. Follow these steps:

1.1 Open the Account Uncollected List Report

  • Report Name:
    ARUNCOL Summary.rpt
  • Purpose:
This report shows all uncollected balances (outstanding taxes) and unapplied credits for each year as of the close of the previous fiscal year.

1.2 Set Report Parameters:

  • Sources:

Run each source (AR, CU, ET, GT, PT, UB, YT) individually. This reduces processing time and ensures accurate data segregation.
  • Begin Date:
Leave as default (usually reflects the earliest data available).
  • End Date:
Use the last day of the prior fiscal year (e.g., 06/30/2025 if your fiscal year ends June 30).
  • Activity Thru:
Also set to the last day of the prior fiscal year.

πŸ’‘
Tip: This report serves as the starting point of your MS-61 submission. It reflects what was still owed or left unapplied at the beginning of the current fiscal year.

πŸ”ΉStep 2: Run Debits & Credits Reports

These reports show all transactions (invoices and payments) that occurred during the current fiscal year, from start to finish.

2.1 Open the Invoice Activity Reports

Report Names:

  1. MS61 CrossTab.rpt

  1. ARINACT_MS61.rpt
  1. Optional (Monthly Users): MS61 CrossTab_Monthly.rpt – Use this if you maintain monthly MS-61 records.

2.2 Set Report Parameters:
  1. Sources: Select All (this includes all revenue sources like Property Tax, Utilities, etc.
  2. Transaction Types: Select All to ensure both debit and credit transactions are captured.
  3. From: First day of the current fiscal year (e.g., 07/01/2025).
  4. To: Last day of the current fiscal year (e.g., 06/30/2026).

πŸ’‘ Reminder: These reports summarize total charges and payments, crucial for reconciling balances and tracking fiscal year activity.

πŸ”ΉStep 3: Generate Ending Balances

Ending balances show what remains uncollected or unapplied at the end of the fiscal year. This helps close out the MS-61 with an accurate final standing.

3.1 Run the Account Uncollected List Report Again
  1. Report Name: ARUNCOL Summary.rpt

3.2 Use the Following Parameters:
Sources: Run each source separately (just like in Step 1).
Begin Date: Leave as default.
End Date: Use the last day of the fiscal year.
Activity Thru: Set to the last day of the fiscal year as well.

πŸ’‘ Note: This report will show what was still uncollected and unapplied at year-end. It complements the Opening Balance report and should be reviewed for accuracy.
